Having secured crew, cargo, and contacts, the group boarded the Primrose and the Sea Wind and set sail for Naranjan under the newly-created flag of the Four Gulls Trading Concern.
The first couple of days passed quietly. After lunch on day three, one of the lookouts called, “Sail ho!†The Four Gulls ships approached closely enough to make out three Vendel merchant vessels formed up in a cautious defensive formation. The two small fleets identified themselves using signal flags and wished each other good luck before heading south again.
Another couple of days passed quietly with the Four Gulls ships following the Vendels at a nonthreatening distance.
